The project's top priorities were privacy & security, as other estate dwellers will be roaming the bush around it and high-profile dignitaries will be visiting or even staying over. It is possible to design from edge-to-edge with no building lines, but this created it’s own challenges, like having to incorporate the gutters for rain water harvesting inside the building envelope, as well as not being able to have any separate fencing around the property. The dwelling was designed to act as security screen itself, through clever placement of windows and openings, as well utilising privacy- sun shading screens, as well as hand rails, as security elements as well.
In order to ‘fit in’ the extensive accommodation list the client presented us with, we had to utilise a basement, stretching almost the entire footprint of the stand, to accommodate some of the exciting features of this residence. There are various service room to house the home automation, security systems, pumps, battery banks for the Photo Voltaic System, etc. A cinema which will also act as presentation room and music hall, as well as 4 vehicle lifts, in order to store some of the vehicle under ground, a bar and music room also forms part of the basement. The client is an ardent scuba diver, so one of our rarer requests was to incorporate a scuba diving tank into the swimming pool area.
